My name is Geoff Klassen, and I've been playing the piano since I was 5 years old in 1989.  I had a natural talent for music and took piano lessons through the Royal Conservatory curriculum until 1998, when I passed the Grade 8 Examination and shifted my focus to Jazz and Pop styles.  Throughout my early years, I developed a curiosity for composing and transcribing, and I discovered that taking a song I liked and transcribing it onto my computer was challenging but fun.  Over several months of writing my own music and transcribing some of my favourite tunes, I developed perfect pitch, which enabled me to complete more work in less time.  Since 2002, I have been a member of a handful of bands, including my high school choir, a stage band (focusing on Rock and Ballad styles), the local Jazz society's Big Band, and a small Jazz quartet.  I even took a year off school to go play with a show band for Norwegian Cruise Line.  Needless to say, music has been a big part of my life since I was young; it reaches me on a very emotional level, and it's something for which I will always have a passion.

You may have seen my work on YouTube — I have a collection of videos there in which I have transcribed some of my favourite pop music into a program called Mario Paint Composer, a computer program based on an old Super Nintendo game that let players write and arrange simple songs.  Please feel free to visit my YouTube account to see what I do with some of my spare time.

My Mario Paint videos are also available as MP3 files.
